Open all year round
Since 2010, thousands of runners have been meeting in Montpellier to take up the challenge of the ultimate long-distance running event: the marathon. The course of the Montpellier Marathon winds its way through the metropolis, from the heart of the city to the seaside, while visiting the neighbouring towns. The Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole Marathon is an individual challenge, a renowned sporting event that qualifies for the French championships, and a beautiful visit to Montpellier and its surroundings (even if it is done at a walking pace!). It is an opportunity to see the beauty of the city and its strength in history, as its foundation dates back to just before the year 1000.
If the marathon is the main event of the day, it remains rather difficult to access without a great preparation and a good discipline all year long. Other races are open on the same day: the half-marathon (21 km), the marathon relay (for 4 to 6 people), the Nordic walking (8km) and even the kids' races (500 and 1500 metres) so that the whole family can participate.
The Grand Hôtel du Midi allows you to stay easily in the heart of Montpellier, close to all the starting points of the race, to be fresh and ready on D-day. A strategic location therefore and a particularly comfortable choice of room to recover from the event, enjoy the city centre: the reception team will be happy to advise you on nice places to spend the evening in the area.
